President of The King's Daughters

Julie BeckDuties

Beck is responsible for providing leadership to the 1,200-plus members of the founding organization of CHKD.  Her primary duty is to oversee the efforts of the members who raise funds and advocate for CHKD.

Background

  • Beck is a Senior Vice President of Investments at Davenport & Company and has been advising individuals and small businesses since 1983. She began her investment career working on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and a Corporate Bond trading desk in New York.
  • A native of Norfolk, Beck moved back home in 1985 and worked as a financial advisor with Bank of America Investments and its predecessor firms for 14 years. She then worked as a financial advisor for Legg Mason, which merged into Smith Barney, for the following 10 years. Beck was ready to get back to a regional firm that focused on taking care of its clients so she decided to move her financial practice to Davenport & Company LLC in 2009.
  • Beck grew up connected to CHKD. Her mother was in a CHKD circle during Beck's childhood and was on the Board in the mid-1980's during the time of the transition to Children's Health System. When Beck moved back to the area in the mid-1980’s, she joined the Horizon’s Circle and later transitioned to the Downtown Circle. Beck served on the Children's Health Foundation board of directors from 2007 until 2018. She joined The King's Daughters board of directors in 2013.
