HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – Now through September 30, local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores are raising money to help kids being treated at CHKD. During this annual campaign, customers and members can donate $1 or more to CHKD when they check out. In addition to collecting donations at the register, stores may host creative fundraisers including bake sales, in-store contests, and family-friendly events.

All donations raised from the Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign, held in partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, stay local and help fund needed medical care, equipment, and therapy programs that save and improve the lives of children in the region. Over the past three decades, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers, and members have raised $11.4 million for CHKD. Funds from this year’s campaign will benefit CHKD’s radiology services and the mental health program.

“We are so fortunate to have a world-class pediatric hospital taking such great care of local kids,” says Chris Mehler, market manager of Walmart’s Neighborhood Markets in Virginia. “CHKD’s positive impact, not only on the kids and their families but also on the community, is immeasurable. We are proud to be part of that.”
