CHKD welcomes the return of Dr. Michael Goretsky to its pediatric surgery practice.
Dr. Goretsky specializes in pediatric general and thoracic surgery and is returning to a role in which he will be active in performing CHKD’s world-renowned Nuss Procedure, in which he has extensive experience with complicated pectus excavatum repairs and redo repairs.
His major clinical interests are in chest wall diseases, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical quality. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals on the Nuss Procedure as well as numerous chapters in a variety of pediatric surgical text books. Dr. Goretsky has also lectured extensively in the U.S. and internationally on chest wall diseases.

About Herbert Bevan, MD
Prior to joining the physician liaison staff, Bevan was a practicing hematologist and oncologist at CHKD for 28 years and served a two-year term as president of the CHKD professional staff in 2014-15. Dr. Bevan received "Top Doc" designation from Coastal Virginia Magazine in 2016 in his final year with CHKD's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. A Kansas native and University of Kansas graduate, Dr. Bevan earned his medical degree from Washington University and completed his residency and fellowships at San Diego Naval Hospital. He joined CHKD after a nine-year stint in the U.S. Navy and in his final two years in the military was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Dr. Bevan is a founding member of Children's Specialty Group.
