The participant will be able to:
- State current diagnostic measures and treatment modalities for the high-risk mother, fetus and neonate.
- Recall outcome data on selected cases of patients referred from regional hospitals and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
- Describe care and stabilization of the maternal and neonatal transport process to ensure safe and orderly transport of patients.

Bridging the Gap Between Rehab and Return to Sport for the Overhead Athlete

Abstract: Presentation to explain the transition period from rehab principles to return to sport for the overhead athlete. How to transition the athlete from rehab based principles to ensure that the imposed demands of the sport are addresses. Late phase rehab also to include various objective measurements needed for discharge criteria for the non-surgical and post-op patient.

Abstract: Emerging concussion research highlights six different clinical profiles that PTs can address during treatment interventions. Several clinical profiles may overlap or influence each other, often masking symptoms. This lecture will provide updated research and treatment ideas for the emerging concussion clinical profiles, including cognitive, cervical, mood, migraine, vestibular, and ocular subtypes.

21st Annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Update
April 11, 2019

This professional educational conference is designed to provide emergency physicians, pediatricians, family practitioners and other healthcare providers with state-of-the-art evidence-based information in pediatric emergency medicine. The morning session will begin with the 24th Annual Forrest White Visiting Lectureship presented by Holly Perry, MD. In the morning session, Dr. Perry will discuss the opioid crisis, how it happened and what the health profession can do about it. This theme will be continued in the noon session as she discusses toxicology cases from the pediatric emergency department.
Emergency medicine staff from Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Emergency Center will present a variety of topics pertinent to pediatric emergency care through lectures and case presentations.

4th Annual Pediatric Trauma Conference
May 17, 2019

The Westin, Virginia Beach Town Center
Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Pediatric Trauma Conference is a one-day accredited pediatric course designed to provide knowledge and skills related to pediatric trauma from content experts. In addition, we seek to enhance the ability of our community and pediatric colleagues to manage
pediatric trauma cases. The conference will provide various learning methodologies presented by experts in pediatric trauma. These will include forums for informal learning and discussion as well as formal presentations.
Course Objectives:
- Diagnosis and treat traumatic brain injuries in pediatric patients.
- Identify communication and clinical challenges for field providers.
- Evaluate cases from a medical examiner’s point of view.
- Execute proper wound and burn care in pediatric patients.
- Discuss the pediatric trauma resuscitation survey.
- Recognize signs of potential abuse in the pediatric patient.
