At CHKD, improving the quality and safety of care is a continuous effort that spans all departments and touches every aspect of our daily work, from our most basic communications to our most advanced technology.

Some highlights of our comprehensive safety and quality program are described below.

Det Norske Veritas

CHKD is accredited by Det Norske Veritas, which means we have met the highest standards of quality and care in a healthcare setting.

Service Line Accreditations

  • Radiology, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and MR
  • Lab
  • Craniofacial

Solutions for Patient Safety

CHKD is a member of this federally-funded collaborative of 79 pediatric facilities which develops and shares best practices to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired conditions like infections related to catheter use, surgical site infections, falls and adverse drug events.

CHKD Care Team

At CHKD, we believe that parents are integral members of the care team. When parents are concerned that a child’s condition is getting worse and that doctors and nurses are not responding correctly, or quickly enough, they can request a care team consult.

National Surgical Quality Program

CHKD participates in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program to measure, compare and improve the outcomes of our surgical care.

Improve Care Now

CHKD is a member of this national collaborative care network dedicated to transforming the health, care and cost of care for children and teens with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
