At CHKD, improving the quality and safety of care is a continuous effort that spans all departments and touches every aspect of our daily work, from our most basic communications to our most advanced technology.
Some highlights of our comprehensive safety and quality program are described below.

Solutions for Patient Safety
CHKD is a member of this federally-funded
collaborative of 79 pediatric facilities which develops and shares best practices to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired conditions like infections related to catheter use, surgical site infections, falls and adverse drug events.
CHKD
Care Team
At CHKD, we believe that parents are integral members of the care team. When parents are concerned that a child’s condition is getting worse and that doctors and nurses are not responding correctly, or quickly enough, they can request a care team consult.
National Surgical Quality Program
CHKD participates in the
American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program to measure, compare and improve the outcomes of our surgical care.
Improve
Care Now
CHKD is a member of this national
collaborative care network dedicated to transforming the health, care and cost of care for children and teens with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
