Cardiac Anesthesiology

CHKD's pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists offer specialized care and work as a team of lifeguards, continually surveying situations and responding accordingly.

Members of our cardiac anesthesiology team are in the operating room with the patient throughout the entire surgery, monitoring vital functions and medical conditions, as well as the level of consciousness during surgery.

Our team is also involved in the placement of monitoring lines and other devices, the administration of drugs to maintain anesthesia, the administration of blood products and other fluids and the control of the patient's surroundings to make the patient as comfortable as possible.
