Bio
James-Petersen has cared for children for almost 20 years as a registered nurse and
pediatric nurse practitioner.
She began her pediatric nursing career here
at CHKD as a registered nurse serving children that required a variety of
medical/surgical nursing care. She then transitioned to Portsmouth Naval
Hospital working as the Nurse Manager for the Gastroenterology Division.
This is where her love and passion for Gastroenterology developed.
As a
parent of a child with numerous gastrointestinal issues, she has special
insight into some of the challenges that her patients and their families face.
She strives to treat each the same way she would like her child to be treated and
embraces the opportunity to develop a trusting relationship with each
family. Most importantly, she enjoys the unique experience she has with
each child and watching her patients grow and flourish.
She completed her doctor of nursing practice in 2012 at Chatham University.
When
she’s not caring for children, she loves running outdoors and
participating in local races. She enjoys reading, traveling and exploring new
places while interacting with people of different cultures.
