“I understand the needs of a child with chronic illness and strive to help families navigate the medical system. For 27 years, it has been my privilege to provide care to children at CHKD and be involved in their lives during times of illness and recovery.”

Bio
Waide began her career as a registered nurse caring for newborns
and has since helped babies thrive in neonatal intensive care, prepared
children of all ages for surgery and supported children as they heal from burns
and wounds. She has cared for children for nearly 30 years and her extensive experience with children and years of extra schooling
and training has shaped her into an expert pediatric nurse practitioner.
Waide now serves as the renal transplant coordinator at
CHKD, helping children with kidney conditions both before and after transplant
surgery. She has a passion for transplantation and the miracle of life it offers.
One of her favorite aspects of her job is developing strong relationships with
her patients and families that span many years of care.
In her free time, she loves to read, swim, head to the
beach, or go boating on Chesapeake Bay.
