Rivera has been providing counseling services to children and families for more than 18 years, with experience in outpatient therapy, intensive in-home counseling, school-based behavioral support, case management and crisis assessments in the hospital setting.

Rivera is an outpatient provider at CHKD's Concert Drive location in Virginia Beach, where she serves children, adolescents and families who present with challenges including depression, anxiety, past trauma, addictions and behavioral issues.

Rivera primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), behavior therapy, motivational interviewing and structural family therapy approaches to facilitate positive changes in her clients. In addition, Rivera is a certified EMDR therapist and has received advanced training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), multisystemic therapy (MST) and BioFeedback.
