“My heart has always been in pediatrics. There is so much joy in getting to know our patients and their families. Every shift is rewarding. Having grown up in Hampton Roads, it is a honor to work for CHKD and serve the children and parents of this community.”

Bio
Mayer spent the first part of her career working for a
Level 1 trauma center emergency room in Roanoke, VA, providing medical care to
adults, adolescents and children. She found that her greatest passion was
working with the kids and young adults.
Knowing she wanted to specialize in pediatrics, she moved back to her hometown of Newport News to complete CHKD’s
Urgent Care Fellowship program. It was through this educational program that
she found a love for the variety and complexity of urgent care.
In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking and paddle
boarding, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She
also volunteers for medical missions, specifically in Haiti, and is interested
in travel medicine for disaster relief.
