Endowment Funds
Endowment funds provide perpetual and lasting financial resources for Children's Hospital of The King’s Daughters and help ensure the continued excellence of CHKD programs by supplementing operating support and allowing innovative programs to grow and excel.
Directed Endowments
Endowment funds may be directed to specific programs of the
hospital such as cancer, child abuse, or nursing scholarships or may be established
to support patient care overall.
Named endowment funds at CHKD are established with a minimum gift of
$25,000 and may be funded with outright gifts of cash, securities, or other assets,
or through a donor’s estate.
"I bequeath to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, 601 Children’s
Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507, the sum of __________________________ dollars
($_____________) to establish an endowment, name of endowment ,
with the annual income going to support and benefit the _______________________________________ program."
How It Works
Endowment funds are invested carefully, with the income earned used to support
the program(s) designated by the donor. As the principal of the endowment is
never spent, the fund provides a perpetual stream of income for the desired
program or service at CHKD, allowing us to plan for the future with strength and
security.
Here’s how it works:
- Donor establishes endowment with CHKD
- Investment dollars added to investment portfolio
- Investment earns income annually
- CHKD receives set percentage annually
- Excess earnings are reinvested
