Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters values its relationships with the vendors and contractors conducting business at our facilities. We recognize that vendors and contractors, by virtue of training, education, knowledge, and expertise, frequently serve as a valuable resource to the staff and clinical teams at CHKD.

You perform a variety of services and functions, from sharing product and technical information, to providing education and training for staff, to serving as a valued resource in support of clinicians and supply chain professionals.

CHKD is committed to providing a safe workplace environment for patients, visitors and team members while allowing efficient vendor access that minimizes disruption to patient care. CHKD is also committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients and conducting our business with integrity and in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

To that end, CHKD is implementing a new vendor access policy and program.

The first phase of the new vendor access policy is specific to the main hospital. However, vendor certification will be required for all CHKD facilities.

 Key changes include:

  • Appointments will be required for all visits.
  • During normal business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday), sign-in will be required at the supply chain department located on the second floor at 905 Redgate Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507.
  • After hours, vendors may sign in using a kiosk that will be located in the lobby of the hospital.
  • During normal business hours, appointments will be verified by supply chain personnel. If an appointment or approval from department or individual cannot be verified, access will not be permitted.
  • The introduction of new products or equipment must be presented through the value analysis process.
  • In the event that your company, or company representative, ships or delivers medical equipment or supplies without first obtaining an authorized hospital purchase order, CHKD reserves the right to reject subsequent payment. No one other than authorized purchasing agents assigned to CHKD’s purchasing or information services departments can commit the organization to such purchases.

Additionally, CHKD has partnered with Green Security for vendor registration and credentialing. All vendor sales representatives, contractors and service providers conducting business at CHKD facilities must be registered, credentialed and obtain a badge from Green Security by April 1, 2019.

Green Security will provide the background screening and credentialing service for all CHKD vendor sales representatives, contractors and service providers. Green Security will also provide smart phone badges and hard badges that can be tracked through Green Security’s technology utilizing the QR (barcode) scanning and tracking service.

Background screening will begin immediately upon registration and a badge will be sent to you once you have been cleared and have submitted any documentation required for credentialing. We encourage you to register 3-to-5 days prior to arriving at a CHKD facility in order to ensure that you will receive your badge before you begin working on site. Please note: If you do not have an approved Green Security badge, you will NOT be granted access to any CHKD building after April 1, 2019.
