Pediatric Residency Program at CHKD

The program supports 66 residents, including four chief residents. The chiefs play an active role in the education of residents and medical students. Each chief resident serves as an instructor in pediatrics and spends 50 percent of their time in a clinical-practice setting.

Around Since 1962

Established at CHKD in 1962, the fully accredited Residency Training Program is designed to provide a broad educational experience in all aspects of pediatric medicine. Pediatric residents develop sound clinical judgment through personal responsibility for the care of healthy and sick children and through closely supervised educational and clinical experiences.

Over the course of three years, pediatric residents become proficient in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic illness and gain experience in preventive pediatrics and health maintenance.
