Bio
After spending numerous hours volunteering in underserved
communities in Pittsburgh, Kern's love for public service as well as science
and medicine led her to a career as a physician assistant. Her passion for pediatrics began while in her
physician assistant program and she elected to do extra rotations in
pediatric subspecialties such as neonatal intensive care.
No matter the rotation focus, Kern always seemed to gravitate towards the cases which
involved children and adolescents. Her first job out of school was in a
private practice gynecology office. While there she discovered her love
for adolescent medicine and knew pediatrics was where she truly
belonged. Pediatric Surgery at CHKD was the perfect fit.
Kern resides in Virginia Beach with her
husband.
