By evaluating and participating in the development of new therapies and drugs for our patients, the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Children's Hospital of The King’s Daughters is recognized as a CF clinical research site. A dedicated CF research nurse leads our team and as we build our research program and provide new therapeutic options for our patients.

Patients interested in clinical research trials, should know that:

  • All research is reviewed, approved and overseen by an independent Ethics Board (or Institutional Review Board) to protect the rights and welfare of research participants.
  • All research participation is completely voluntary and your decision to or not to participate will have no impact on the care you are receiving or will receive in the future.
  • Written permission (called informed consent) is always required from the patient, or the parent, if the patient is under 18 years of age.

Of course, there are many other considerations and facts that will impact your decision to participate, or not participate, in our studies. Please talk with your doctor or contact our research nurse if you are interested to learn more about participating in our studies.
